Play
THE GAME
Two teams try to be the first to knock over all three of the other team’s two GUARDS and then the KINGPIN, or eliminate the other team’s three balls.
THE PARTS
Each team has (all the same color):
- One KINGPIN (the largest pin)
- Two GUARD pins
- One MALLET
There are also two BOUNDARY BLOCKS
THE SET UP (See diagram below)
- Place the two BOUNDARY BLOCKS across from each other at an agreed upon distance.
- Place the two KINGPINS by pacing to an equal distance from the middle of the two BOUNDARY BLOCKS, creating two equal sized triangles.
- Inside each triangle is a team’s territory, where they place their GUARDS and BALLS at least a mallet’s length from each other.
- The team that sets up first will take the first turn.
- When play begins there are no boundaries.
A TURN
A player takes a turn by trying to strike one of his own team’s BALLS with the MALLET.
- When the BALL a player strikes, knocks over on of the other team’s GUARDS, the GUARD is eliminated from the game and the player takes another turn.
- When the BALL that a player strikes touches one of the other team’s balls, the other team’s ball is eliminated from the game.
- At the end of a player’s turn, a player on the other team takes a turn.
- Players on a team take turns.
- The team that knocks over the opponent’s KINGPIN before knocking over both of the other team’s GUARDS, loses the game. A team that knocks over it’s own KINGPIN loses the game.
- When a team knocks over one of his own GUARDS, the GUARD is eliminated from the game.
A WIN
The first team to either knock over the opponent’s KINGPIN, or eliminate all of the opponent’s BALLS wins the game.
A MATCH
Teams may agree on how many games it takes to win a match.
